Afternoon (2:00 PM): Pickup from Mathura Junction, Mathura Cantt or your hotel. Route briefing with your guide, then hotel check-in to drop luggage and freshen up before the night begins.
Late Afternoon (4:00 PM): Darshan at Dwarkadhish Temple in its Janmashtami phool bangla — a chamber of fresh flowers built anew each year. The jhankis here are the most elaborate in Mathura and the temple is still navigable at this hour.
Evening (6:00 PM): Yamuna Aarti at Vishram Ghat, the ghat where Krishna rested after defeating Kansa. Devotees float diyas down the river as the aarti is sung. Time is allowed here — this is one of the calmer, more moving hours of the day.
Evening (7:30 PM): Sattvic dinner, or phalahar if you are keeping the Janmashtami fast. Tell us at booking and it is arranged without any fuss on the day.
Night (8:30 PM): Rasleela performance and viewing of the Chhappan Bhog — the 56-item offering being assembled for the midnight puja.
Night (9:30 PM): Enter the Shri Krishna Janmabhoomi complex. Being in the queue by 9:30 PM is essential — the outer gates back up badly after 10 PM. Your guide manages cloakroom, security and gate selection.
Midnight (11:56 PM – 12:42 AM): Nishita Kaal — the abhishek of the infant Krishna in the underground Garbha Griha at the exact moment of His birth, with conch shells, bells, Chhappan Bhog and the breaking of the fast.
Late Night (1:15 AM): Prasad, exit via the guide's planned route, and back to the hotel. Sleep quickly — Day 2 starts before dawn.
