Afternoon (3:00 PM): Pickup from Mathura Junction, Mathura Cantt or your hotel. Your guide briefs you on the night's route, the queue plan, and what to carry into the temple complex — this five-minute briefing is what prevents problems later.
Late Afternoon (4:00 PM): Darshan at Dwarkadhish Temple, decorated in its Janmashtami phool bangla — a chamber built entirely of fresh flowers. The Janmashtami jhankis here are among the most elaborate in Mathura and the temple is comparatively calm at this hour.
Evening (6:00 PM): Walk down to Vishram Ghat for the Yamuna Aarti — the ghat where Krishna rested after defeating Kansa. On Janmashtami evening the ghat steps fill with devotees floating diyas on the river.
Evening (7:30 PM): Sattvic dinner at a clean vegetarian restaurant. Many pilgrims observe the Janmashtami fast until midnight — if you are fasting, we arrange phalahar (fruit and milk-based fasting food) instead.
Night (8:30 PM): Rasleela performance — the traditional dance-drama of Krishna's life staged across Mathura through Janmashtami week — followed by viewing of the Chhappan Bhog, the 56-item offering being prepared for the midnight puja.
Night (9:30 PM): Enter the Shri Krishna Janmabhoomi complex. Being in queue by 9:30 PM is non-negotiable on Janmashtami — after 10 PM the outer gates back up for over a kilometre. Your guide handles the cloakroom, security lines and gate selection.
Midnight (11:56 PM – 12:42 AM): Nishita Kaal — the abhishek of the infant Krishna in the underground Garbha Griha marking the exact moment of His birth. Conch shells, temple bells, the Chhappan Bhog offering, and the breaking of the day-long fast. This is the spiritual centre of the entire pilgrimage.
Late Night (1:00 AM): Prasad distribution, then exit via the guide's pre-planned route. Drop back at your hotel or station by approximately 2:00 AM. End of tour.
